Despacito is a song from 2017 released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the most streamed and downloaded song in the world within the space of six months. It was a mixture of reggaeton, pop and rock did not just bring interest to reggaeton, but also brought attention towards Latin music in general. Billboard's Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs in 2016, as opposed to two in 2015. In 2017, at the height of Despacito's popularity, 19 tracks mainly in Spanish have made it into the Billboard Top 100. By 2020 there will be 41 tracks that fall into this category. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish version in 2017 and soon after the most well-known artists began collaborating together with reggaeton groups. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018) as well as Madonna collaborated on Medellin with Maluma (2019). The mainstreaming of reggaeton was an issue for certain performers during the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a younger generation wanted to preserve the style. It often blended elements from electronic dance music and other genres.
