
Anthony David Gonzalez was born in Torrance, California on February 27 in 1976. He grew up in Southern California and attended Huntington Beach High School where he was a top player on both basketball and football teams. Gonzalez excelled in these sports at the University of California, Berkeley. He helped lead the football team to the 1996 Aloha Bowl. Here, Gonzalez set the school bowl record of nine receptions. Gonzalez then led the basketball team to Sweet 16 in the NCAA basketball tournament a few months after. Then he quit school for the 1997 NFL Draft. Gonzalez was picked at number 13 overall by the Kansas City Chiefs. Gonzalez was part of the Chiefs from 1997 to 2008. Gonzalez was traded to the Atlanta Falcons. Beginning in his second year in the NFL, he never caught more than 59 passes in the course of a season.
